What about Thanksgiving?

So I feel like I should explain something. I’m not talking about God in these posts, well I might, but not the God your thinking of. “God” and “Oreo’s” are inside jokes and probably will never be anything mentioned about either in this blog. Just know that I know God. He is in hiding on earth and he is my friend. Ya. I’m friends with God and even his personal assistant/secretary. Don’t mess with me. Oreo’s are just how babies are made. Don’t ask.
Now down to business. My absolute biggest pet peeve is doing anything Christmas before Thanksgiving or even worse, Halloween. That is a BIG NO NO! I can’t stand people putting up Christmas decorations or playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving! It’s not right! It’s like people are forgetting one of the most wonderful holidays all about great food!
My Favorite holidays, in order, are Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Did you notice that it’s in sequence? That’s not on purpose but it’s amazing! As soon as October hits I’m super happy until December 26th… besides this year. So last Sunday, October 30th, I was told that my dorm was going to be shut down and I had three days to figure out a new living situation and one week to move. My favorite holiday was ruined. The next day, October 31st, Halloween, I was depressed and it didn’t even feel like my favorite holiday. Wonderful right?
You: “You at least still have Thanksgiving and Christmas!”
Me: “Wrong. I don’t. I was just about to get to that.”
Yes. You read that right. I don’t get a Thanksgiving or Christmas this year.
You: “OMG! That’s so sad. Why?!”
Me: “I’m getting to it! Stop interrupting me!!!”
Anyways, I just got a new job and it requires me to work through the holidays. Usually not a big problem. I had to work through it last year but there’s one big difference now. I live three hours away from my home town and family. So this year while everyone goes home to eat nummy food and open presents, I’m going to be in my very empty apartment doing nothing unless I have work. Doesn’t sound too bad right? WRONG! None of my friends are going to be here and I’m going to eat soup for Thanksgiving dinner and wake up on Christmas all alone and wishing I was at my home, in new PJ’s eating scones and watching my family opening presents as I open mine and then sleeping the rest of the day.  Wow writing this is making me realize the reality and it’s depressing me. Drat!
Some of you may think that I may be lucky caus I don’t have to deal with all that family stuff. Guys, stop hating on your family! I love my family. Sometimes I get annoyed with them but I LOVE Thanksgiving just because of the fact I get to spend time with my family. I love going to my grandma’s house and seeing my older brothers and their wives and kids. I love messing with my younger brother and watching stupid movies while the turkey cooks. I love how me and my older brothers will get yelled at by my mom because we get into the Veggies before dinner (which I don’t get. We’re hungry and eating vegetables. Why is that wrong mom?!), talking to my older sister on the phone because she’s states away from us, playing dolls with my nieces, etc. I love all of it and this year I have to miss it!
Christmas is a great time to spend with family too! I go to my grandma’s and we make a TON of homemade candy. I go to my Aunt’s house Christmas Eve for a dinner with family (I’ll admit I never like going and neither does my dad or younger brother but we still go caus it doesn’t feel right without going) and then get home and my parents give me a new pair of PJ’s which I LOVE! This year I’m going to miss eating scones Christmas morning and after opening presents sleeping for the rest of the day. Dang. This sucks!I get none of my holidays. What a depressing year.
So why do you guys care? Wasn’t I talking about my pet peeve? Yes I was. And then I went on a tangent. But back to my pet peeve. Don’t forget about the other holidays just because you want presents or are stressed caus you need to get presents. If we keep moving Christmas up months then it’ll be Christmas all year then it’ll lose its meaning! Wait until Black Friday to start playing Christmas music and putting up the tree.
Enjoy being with your family on Thanksgiving. Don’t rush things! Be happy that you get to spend time with your family and be glad you have a holiday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
P.S I’ll warn you now; don’t play Christmas music around me before Black Friday.
P.S.S I love you Kait! ;) (I promised you I’d mention your awesome self!)

The "Joys" of Dating.

Two of my friends lately have started Blogs and I guess I’m next. This Blog is mostly for me to rant and share how I see the world to the people who read this; if anyone reads this of course. I’m not sure how often I’m going to post because I’m busy and right now I’m doing it because I’m bored.
So enough of why I started this.
Today I woke up to two texts with people pretty much criticizing me because I don’t have a boyfriend. Yes. I don’t have a boyfriend and never have. I’ve been on like one date and I’m not even sure if I should count it. Sad isn’t it. I guess to some. But I’ve lived like this all my life and have come to accept it. I don’t really see the big deal of having a boyfriend. Don’t get me wrong. I do want one, someday, and would love to be asked out on a date, but I don’t wish for it 24/7. This also doesn’t mean I’m Lesbian (not that there’s anything wrong with that, I actually support people who are) or that I am not as good as others, caus I’m a great person, as I’ve been told, and I’m straight and do check out guys.
You: “Really?! OMG!”
Me: “Yes. I do. And some are mighty fine.”
I noticed in High School that everyone was dating and it seemed like a lot of fun, but also a lot of stress and extra pressure. Let’s also not forget all the added drama that came with dating in High School. I got so sick of my friends talking about who’s dating who, what couples are in a fight, etc. I saw no point of getting into other people’s business unless it involved me. Their love life should not be the topic of conversation while I was trying to do Calculus.
I’m now in College and have come into a whole new world of relationships. I see so many couples around campus and have people who are even married in most of my classes. It’s overwhelming. Some of my friends have boyfriends/girlfriends and I’m happy for them and as long as they’re still my friends I’m good. What does bug me a bit with my friends being in a relationship is when they ditch me on every occasion just because they’d rather be making lovey-dovey faces to their partner. I understand that you want to be with your lover a lot and not be with me as much and that’s fine, just don’t make plans with me then. I have other people I can be with and other things I can do besides waiting around for someone who’s just going to bail. Maybe I’m just a little biased because I’ve never experienced the “joys” of dating but I do want to point out that I know how friends should act towards each other and that does not include using your friend as a door mat to use just when you need it and no other time.
The topic of dating, past relationships and marriage come up in conversations a lot now since I’ve entered into the world of college. People say “you need to get married.” I don’t NEED to, yes I WANT to, but I don’t HAVE to. There’s a few things before I can get married though including, going on a date, getting a boyfriend, and then if things work out getting engaged. That’s not going to happen in a few weeks like it seems everyone thinks it does. It’s going to take months and possibly years. I listen to my friends experiences with past boyfriends/girlfriends and love their stories but I’ll admit, I also get somewhat jealous of them. They seem to forget I’ve never had those experiences and they talk to me like I know what they’ve felt and like I have stories. It’s kinda funny when I can tell they want me to tell a story and then they realize I don’t have any and they try to cover it up and they think I can’t tell. I do see that people! I’m not totally blind. Blonde is different than being blind.
Another thing that bugs me is when people try to cover that forgetful moment of theirs with telling me I need to ask someone out or with them asking if I’ve been asked on any dates yet. First off, it’s none of your business and if I wanted you to know I’d tell you. Secondly, don’t you think I’ve thought of asking someone out?! I have, I just don’t feel like I’m ready or it’s the right time. I don’t want to ruin friendships and I need to make sure it won’t before I try and ask them out! Any questions? Good!
So all in all, No, I like don’t have a boyfriend and never have. Yes I do like guys and even have “crushes” on some. Yes I would like a date but not until the time is right and they ask me on their own free will or I ask them out of mine. I have friends and that’s good enough for me at the moment. Now stop being stupid and thinking I’m less then you because I’m Single and haven’t gone through the “joys” of dating. Everyone good? GREAT!
